On June 11th we curated our first Youth Giveback Arts Showcase in our hometown Brooklyn, New York! The showcase sold out and was held at Nicholas Brooklyn, an indigenous bookstore and cultural staple in the Bedstuy community for several decades. We partnered with Nicholas to help show inner city kids that being an artist can lead to an amazing life.
Artists from the New York and New Jersey area selflessly volunteered their time to share their story and talents for the neighborhood children. Artisans, graphic designers, oil painters, dancers, basketball coaches, lyricists and poets all came through to support the empowerment of the youth through the arts.
Access to performing arts classes in NYC public schools have been cut drastically and we wanted to empower children on their creative journeys through this showcase. This was a dream come true for us and was the first of many events to come.
